Sun Appoints New ACT Branch Manager to Drive Growth in Government Sector

Appointee to Take Charge of Growing Channel Business

Canberra Australia, 3 May 2007 - Sun Microsystems has appointed Andrew Goodlace to ACT branch manager where he will have overall responsibility for growing and managing Sun's portfolio of accounts within the region.

In this role, Goodlace will lead strategic initiatives aimed at helping Government and corporate customers, as well as channel partners, extract ongoing value through their partnership with Sun.

With more than 20 years experience in the ICT industry, Goodlace brings to Sun extensive experience with the Federal Government as well as the defence, telecommunications, financial services and utilities sectors.

"Andrew has the breadth of expertise and industry contacts needed to raise the profile of Sun in Canberra and take the business to the next stage of growth," said Duncan Bennet, sales director, Sun Microsystems, Australia and New Zealand.

"We see huge opportunities within the Federal and State Government to grow our customer base, particularly as eco-responsibility and green technology creeps up on the business and political agenda."

Goodlace's appointment follows a successful year for Sun in Canberra. The local operation has seen strong server sales, as well as substantial growth in disk and tape storage and identity management software.

"Sun is committed to the Canberra market and there is definitely plenty of room to grow the business in this region, particularly as Government organisations increasingly look for trusted partners that can deliver secure, scalable and cost-effective technology," said Goodlace.

"Sun's main differentiator is that we are very focused on R&D and continue to develop products and services that address key issues for businesses such as the increasing demands for secure network access and storage. My goal is to ensure that all constituencies within the Government fully understand Sun's value proposition and the benefits of Open Source technology."

Goodlace joins Sun from KAZ Technology Services where he was Client Director, responsible for business development. Prior to KAZ, Goodlace was the founder and managing director of Iocore Asia Pacific (previously Intec Australia) before it was acquired by KAZ Technology Services in 2005.

Goodlace has a Bachelor of Commerce - Business Economics and Industrial Psychology from University of South Africa.
