Sun Microsystems Appoints Storage Product Manager to Drive Market Share Growth
Appointee to Take Charge of Growing Channel Business Sydney, Australia, 6 February 2007 -Sun Microsystems has appointed Steve Stavridis as Storage Product Manager for Australia and New Zealand. Stavridis previously held the position of solutions architect within Sun's storage division. With this promotion, Steve will be tasked with continued growth of Sun's storage business in the region. Stavridis will have overall responsibility for managing Sun's Storage product portfolio and ensuring both the sales team and partners are equipped to compete and win. He will report to ANZ Marketing Director, Paul O'Connor. "Sun's storage portfolio stands out for both its depth and scope," said Stavridis. "The combined Sun and StorageTek portfolio is the broadest in the market and has fueled 46% revenue growth this year. Added to this is some market leading innovation that gives me the opportunity to extend Sun's market share gains by means of products which will change the way data is managed and stored." Originally a StorageTek employee, Stavridis has more than 11 years experience in the IT industry - including 7 years as a storage consultant. Prior to joining StorageTek in 2004, he held roles at Dimension Data Australia, CNI Group and Integration Design. "Steve has an impeccable background in the storage arena," said Anthony Clarke, Storage Practice lead for Australia and New Zealand. "His combination of strategic consulting and technical skills will help us achieve our goals in ANZ. Steve will be a significant addition to our team." Stavridis holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Latrobe University as well as a number of technical certifications.
