Sun Microsystems Appoints New Regional Sales Manager for Storage Group

Former StorageTek Employee Returns to Drive Sun Storage Sales

Sydney, Australia, 17 July 2006 - Sun Microsystems has appointed Jamie Leggate as the Storage Group's Sales Manager. In this role, the former StorageTek employee will be responsible for storage sales in Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory.

Leggate will lead Sun's sales teams in these territories, overseeing the development and execution of a comprehensive sales strategy. Key objectives will be to maintain Sun's market leadership in tape and disk based data protection solutions and develop new business around emerging solutions such as identity-based information lifecycle management (ILM).

Reporting to Anthony Clarke, National Sales Manager for the Storage Group, Leggate will work closely with the sales team to provide ongoing mentoring and ensure individual and group targets are met.

"Jamie brings to the role a wealth of knowledge and skills acquired through 12 years of consultative IT sales experience," said Anthony Clarke. "He will be a vital asset to the business as we continue to expand our footprint in the Australian and New Zealand storage markets," said Clarke.

Leggate has more than 20 years IT industry experience, including eight years experience focused on data management, enterprise application and business integration in Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific. He joins Sun from Fuji Xerox where he was General Manager of Strategy and Development. Leggate has held several senior sales roles at IBM and TiS as well as StorageTek.

"As a former StorageTek employee, it's exciting to see the transformation of the combined Sun/StorageTek business. The comprehensive portfolio opens up many opportunities," commented Leggate. "I look forward to working with the team to capitalise on these and drive growth in key areas such as ILM, virtualisation and data security," he said.
